Welcome To The Northwest Emerge (Local Spotlight)

John Espinoza, better known as Emerge, has lived the majority of his life in California. Recently he decided to move to the Northwest because of the potential that our scene has in defining the electronic music scene. Emerge has a list of credentials that should impress. Currently he is the A&R Manager of Adrenalin Room Records and is an artist on the label itself. He hosts his own radio show entitled ‘Emerge Life Radio’ and can be found in bookings all over the country. We had the opportunity to ask him a few questions about his transition to Seattle and where he comes from musically.

Emerge started at a pretty young age when it comes to his love for music. Around the age of six “my father gave me “Dark Side Of The Moon”. I remember being fascinated with the textures and sounds used in the album. There was one track in particular that really stood out to me, it was “On the run”. In that track they were using synthesizers and sequencers that kind of sound like the Roland TB-303 acid bass line.” That definitely speaks to his style of music.

Emerge is in the realm of progressive trance and feels right at home making some beautiful mixes for the ‘Emerge Life Radio’ Podcast. His most recent broadcast (episode 123) takes you through a journey of progressive, peak hour, and euphoric trance music. His own productions follow that same landscape, because “I enjoy making very tech and groove oriented tracks, that places a lot of focus on melody. When producing I try to create a contrast of lush atmospheres, gritty and aggressive low end.”

Emerge moved to Seattle because of the culture in dance music here. The culture in Seattle is very open and it reminds him of what dance music was when he first hit the scene.

“I decided to move to Seattle because there is a special vibe here, a vibe that takes me back to some of my first experiences in dance music. Its really refreshing, and the people have been very inviting. It (Seattle) feels very energetic and focused on quality music.”

So let’s give it up for Emerge and welcome him with open arms to Seattle. We highly recommend you take a listen to ‘Emerge Life Radio’ on Soundcloud. We have included a link below. Then look him up on all his social media outlets and give him a like or a follow.  Also be sure to check out some of other artists in the local spotlight!

Phillip was raised on so many different genres of music, it has given him a unique perspective into the ever evolving music scene. Trance music began defining his life at the young age of 14, but thoroughly enjoys any type of music equally. He sees the music as an escape from the daily doldrums of life and says music can change a persons life in an instant pulling from his own experiences. His only goal in life is to share wonderful music with people and take electronic music to a higher plain with more accountability and creating a safer environment for his friends.
