THE BIG NAMES: Porter Robinson, Dillon Francis (DJ Hanzel), deadmau5, Excision B2B Datsik, Bassnectar B2B Pretty Lights, The Glitch Mob, Noisia, The Prodigy, SKisM

Shambhala never skimps on the quality of the acts performing at the Farm each year, and we expect a double-dosage of big names for the 20th anniversary next summer. We haven’t seen our buddy Bassnectar at the Farm in a couple of years, and expect that to change. We’re hoping, though, that the return comes with a slight-shift. Bassnectar’s return would put a smile on all Shambhala attendee’s faces, but getting some BassLights-esque action at the Farm, the combined-forces of Bassnectar and fellow Shambhala-veteran Pretty Lights, would be something else.

We got a hint of another B2B we hope to be announced at Shambhala 2016, when Datsik hinted at a B2B set with fellow Canadian bass-head Excision. The two are staples of The Village and among the best in bass music. Toss in their friendship, chemistry, and it being Shamb’s 20th anniversary, and you can count us in.

The returns of the likes of Porter Robinson, Dillon Francis (or maybe Hanzel?), Noisia, and SKisM to Shambhala would also have our hearts racing for next summer’s edition of the festival. Each of the acts have graced various stages at the Farm in the past, and while some have been away for longer than most, all would be more than welcome at Shambhala 2017.

A couple of Shambhala-debuts we think would set the 20th anniversary apart from other events would be the inclusion of deadmau5, or The Glitch Mob. The dark, electro/tech house vibes deadmau5 can provide would fit right in at The Pagoda in the middle of the night, while The Glitch Mob could draw a crowd anywhere, especially at The Village.

THE GREAT FITS: Krafty Kuts B2B A.Skillz, Spor, Tipper, REZZ, Mija, Terravita, Ghastly, Mat Zo, Figure, Illenium, Seven Lions, Netsky, Black Tiger Sex Machine, Hannah Wants, Dirtyphonics, Dieselboy, Metrik, Malaa.

There are countless artists that we could add to this category, but these stand out as some acts we’d really enjoy next year at the Farm. We know we just saw REZZ, Mija (x2), and Ghastly this year, but their sets showed that they belong at the Farm every year possible. The returns of other Shambhala-veterans Tipper and Terravita would be welcome as well, both of which put on fantastic performances in 2015.

One of our ‘Great Fits’ that could easily be a ‘Big Name’ as well is our Krafty Kuts B2B A.Skillz wish. Two of the most talented DJs around, who have a history of working together, could put on quite a show with a two-hour slot in the Fractal Forest.

We’re also unapologetic bass-heads, and sets from the likes of Figure, SporSeven Lions, Netsky, Dirtyphonics, or Dieselboy at the Village would be more than worthy of the 20th anniversary. Artists like Illenium, Mat Zo, Black Tiger Sex Machine, Malaa, and more would fit-in well at several stages at Shambhala, providing the unique and supremely-interesting combination that makes Shambhala so much fun.
