Tragedy Turns Into A “Little Something” For Charity

As many of you may already know, Jono Grant lost his sister earlier this year. As expected, Jono took a much-needed break from the road and the Above & Beyond Group Therapy radio to grieve this tremendous loss. His sister, Charlotte, died suddenly on her 42nd birthday after having lunch with their parents. As for anybody who has dealt with this kind of loss, it was extremely devastating to Jono and the rest of Above & Beyond.

As they deal with the loss, Jono, Tony, and Paavo have found a way to create light from this tragedy. Together with Charlotte’s colleagues, they have started the “Little Something” charitable fund, aptly named after Charlotte’s favorite track of their album We’re All We Need. “We’ve called it that because Charlotte (who was one of Above & Beyond’s most vocal supporters) loved the song and felt the lyrics really captured the essence of her work,” Jono wrote in a recent Facebook post. The charity will support funding for maternal mental healthcare for women and programs that increase the number of mother/ child hospital beds in hospitals, which is what Charlotte dedicated her life too.

“Charlotte dedicated her professional life to maternal mental health, helping mothers and their babies through difficult times. Developing a mental health disorder at any time can be overwhelming but when this occurs during or after pregnancy, the situation has the potential to be life-changing for both mother and baby. Charlotte stood alongside women, babies and their families at the height of their distress. With compassion, skill and hope she provided a light at the end of many tunnels, and empowered women on their road to recovery.”

To kick off this incredible venture, Above & Beyond has decided to do a performance at Wembley Stadium on November 13. All the proceeds will go to Little Something. Jono ended his post with this:

“Every one of us has or has had a mother – none of us would be here without them in fact. We can’t think of a better cause to get behind, and hope you’ll join us (and Charlotte’s friends, work colleagues and family) for this very special night on Friday November 13. Feel free to bring your mum along too.”

Again, Above & Beyond blows us away with their everlasting beauty in character. It’s important to remember your mother and all the struggles she went through to bring you here. If you can, go and give your mother a hug and thank her. You’ll be happy you did.

Phillip was raised on so many different genres of music, it has given him a unique perspective into the ever evolving music scene. Trance music began defining his life at the young age of 14, but thoroughly enjoys any type of music equally. He sees the music as an escape from the daily doldrums of life and says music can change a persons life in an instant pulling from his own experiences. His only goal in life is to share wonderful music with people and take electronic music to a higher plain with more accountability and creating a safer environment for his friends.
