Imagine for a moment that you’re an aspiring DJ. After years spent producing quality remixes while still managing to stay under the radar, you release an original track. Days later, it’s gone viral, and suddenly the entire world knows who you are. That’s precisely the path Alex and Drew followed the second #SELFIE hit the airwaves. In an instant, they “went from being a team of 4 to a team of 25,” completely altering their lives forever.
DMNW: How has your outlook on life changed [following #SELFIE]?
The Chainsmokers: We definitely have a different outlook on certain things. We thought we had it all figured out but that was not the case… Let’s just say life is always changing and evolving and as an artist you want to feel like you are making progress and that is something we definitely feel like we are… It hasn’t always been highs, there are still plenty of lows but the ride has been a beautiful one of a kind experience thus far.
Even so, the duo are far from your typical superstar DJs. You’d be hard-pressed to find them resting on their laurels following their massive initial success, following the release of their newest single, KANYE.
Things are very different now for the duo.
