The Chainsmokers: Putting Their Personal Touch on Dance Music (Exclusive Interview)

the chainsmokers interview

Andrew Taggart and Alex Paul’s story is one that seems typical enough: Together as The Chainsmokers, they rocketed to superstardom following the release of their hit single #SELFIE, gracing festival lineups, going on national TV, and becoming a household name in the blink of an eye. It’s a tale that for many artists has ended after that one huge track, with countless bands and DJs fading into obscurity. For The Chainsmokers though, that momentum has only pushed them to remain grounded. How exactly have they managed to do so? We were wondering the same thing.

DMNW: Has this skyrocket of success changed your professional lifestyle?

The Chainsmokers: We don’t think anything inherent in us has changed we just realize the stakes have changed a bit, but the key to us getting here was just being ourselves and sticking to our values and what we think is cool, so we are just going to try to continue to do that and hopefully be and become people that fans and our family can be proud of.

We chatted with the duo to get the details on what is that makes them tick, the release of their newest track KANYE, and even their preference of jungle animals should they be presented the choice (spoiler: they chose “golden retrievers, a sloth, and a bald eagle”).
