Snowbombing Canada 2018 was an incredible experience. Last year, we had the opportunity to visit the inaugural event. After a successful European run, the organizers decided to bring their seminal ski, snowboard, and music festival over to Canadian soils, landing on the picturesque Sun Peaks Resort. After a fun-filled weekend last year, we were ecstatic to find out we were returning to find out what changes made for year 2! THURSDAY! Giles Smith / FANATIC Thursday was clearly gonna be a time, we just knew it. Not only did we get to see our fave neon clad West Coast badman Neon Steve, we also got to bear witness to the house invasion starting off with notorious Dirtybird star Fisher and ending our night with OG Felix da Housecat, plus a stop in to see the UK trap legend TroyBoi in between. The first thing we noticed was the venues were incredibly well put together. Thursday night brought us to the two main night venues, Crystal Cave and The Underground. Crystal Cave – Troyboi – Richard Johnson / FANATIC They managed to turn the ballroom of the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel into a rave cave! We started our evening off there, catching not only the first big surprise of the weekend, Sub C, but also got to get a lay of the land for future shows! Following, we headed right along to the mysteriously named Underground, which was literally a stage in the underground parking lot of the hotel, totally transformed! While we were over in the Underground, our partner in crime Stephanie was over at the pub venue of the festival watching Neon Steve crush his set. “[It was] awesome and brought me back to dirty outdoor raves when he first started, made me dance my face off to start the weekend off” – Stephanie Mihaly, DMNW correspondent We all reconvened at The Underground and headed over back to Crystal Cave to end our night with TroyBoi, who as expected brought the house down! We decided it was time to rest up and head off to the chalets for some R&R before the festival really started! Felix Da Housecat – The Underground – Giles Smith / FANATIC Prev1 of 4Next Jamie Gib 26 years old, with a voracious appetite for bass, dancing, all things art, and a flair for the dramatic, Jamie Gib grew up in the rave scene, having been introduced to electronic music in the late 90s as a small child from his cousin and he joined the rave scene in 2004, and never looked back, A DJ, Promoter, Go-Go Dancer, and writer, Jamie has made his mark on the Vancouver Island scene and beyond, having worked or attended 90% of the festivals on the Pacific North West and has no plans on stopping there.
