MAU is a five member electronic band from Portugal. The create shadowy electro-pop sounds that remind us of Justice, Cut Copy, and TV on The Radio. There is a paradoxical theme to their music; dark, yet uplifting. Every listener leans to one side or another, interpreting tracks as they experience the music. Their latest single, “Safari Entrepreneur Part 2″ is a perfect example of the dark natured, yet pleasant work MAU produces. The single opens with haunting synths and a dark, thumping bass line. African and Caribbean steel-drum work gradually enter the song accompanied by misty, distant vocals making this track very unique. Think if Drive was filmed in the wet, ghostly green of the Amazon.
