Six artists from Foreign Family Collective have been chosen by Odesza to give their own spin on some of your favorites from their 2017 album, A Moment Apart. From Odesza’s label, they have selected Chet Porter, Memba, ford., Kodac to Graph, Mild Minds and Running Touch.
These artists aren’t trying to make a version that is better than the original. It is hard to compete with the original magic that Odesza created. The best these producers can do in the studio is to create their own rendition. It is so much fun to hear new versions of songs like Late Night, Line of Sight, and Thin Floors and Tall Ceilings.
Chet Porter’s re-imagination of Line of Sight is remarkable. Chet increased the beats per minute, added layers of sound production, and designed an exciting new drop. He created a respectable new version that tells a different and exciting story.
For ford.’s remix of Thin Floors and Tall Ceilings, he kept the original beat pattern while adding a piano to the track. Throughout you can hear snaps, claps, and orchestral additions. During the drop ford. constructs a new vocal chop from either the original song or from an outside source. This track is pure beauty.
These remixes don’t exactly fit into Odesza’s main stage set but expect to hear some remixes in Odesza’s Ambient and No Sleep Dj sets at Sundara. These remixes were released on February 15, 2019.
