Michael Mayer To Host Live Stream Focused On Climate Change And Paris

While we have called for change in the music community to create a safer environment, we must also call on the HUMAN community to make OUR environment more sustainable. The UN Climate Change Conference is currently being held in Paris. Because of the recent tragedies, protests and large gatherings are not being permitted; Paris does not have the right to assemble because of a state of Martial Law in the city. Micheal Mayer, DJ and co-owner of Kompakt, wants to bring awareness to this cause of ending climate change, and therefore is hosting a live stream on Beatport, which will kick off at 5 pm CET on Saturday, December 5 and continue to the 6th. This is a world-wide silent disco.

The purpose of this stream is to create awareness surrounding the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris. Together, we are showing solidarity and memory for those impacted by the recent events in Paris and putting a focus on the discussions engaged at this critical conference.

“‘A DJ speaks through his records.’ … I’ve always been fascinated by this idea. Creating a themed mix to soundtrack a world-wide dance party for the most important cause has allowed me to take that idea very literally. This is protest house.” – Micheal Mayer

#ListenParis asks you to make a difference by sending a positive message to the world leaders that the global community is listening. By showing your support and social media activity during #ListenParis, we have this opportunity to express that we are ready to embrace better environmental stewardship, with the goal to move to 100% renewable energy by 2050.

If you want to be a part of this movement, just head to www.beatport.com/listenparis. Tune in with your friends and the world. Together we can make change and we can be heard.

Will you be tuning in with your friends? Let us know what you think of this method of protest? Do you think it will be effective in its goals? Let us know in the comments below.

Phillip was raised on so many different genres of music, it has given him a unique perspective into the ever evolving music scene. Trance music began defining his life at the young age of 14, but thoroughly enjoys any type of music equally. He sees the music as an escape from the daily doldrums of life and says music can change a persons life in an instant pulling from his own experiences. His only goal in life is to share wonderful music with people and take electronic music to a higher plain with more accountability and creating a safer environment for his friends.
