French super producer Madeon has joined Justin Bieber and Martin Garrix on Billboard’s “21 under 21.” Hitting number 14, it’s not a surprise why the extremely talented Madeon made the cut. At the young age of 20, Hugo Pierre Leclercq (Madeon) can’t legally drink a beer in the United States, but he sure as hell can throw down an incredible beat. Launching his career through the internet, he gained popularity by his famous video Pop Culture, which was published to YouTube and subsequently received millions of hits in its first few days of broadcast on the Internet. If you haven’t seen it, it’s well worth a watch. The amount of creativity and thought put into it is mind blowing.
Madeon was almost immediately dubbed a prodigy by fans and artists everywhere. From there, a flood of remixes have cemented Madeon as an electronic music master at only 20 years old. He is unique, fresh, and everything we respect in a producer – especially in a scene which is heavy with same-sounding talent. After supporting Lady Gaga on her Born This Way Ball tour, Madeon co-produced three tracks (“Venus,” “Mary Jane Holland” and “Gypsy”) for her latest album Artpop. Yet, he also found time in the meanwhile to contribute to Coldplay’s Ghost Stories. Being acknowledged by Billboard alongside the likes of Lorde, Justin Bieber, and Chief Keef, the “21 under 21” title is no small achievement. Holla’ at ya’ boy Madeon!
