“Nothing but love. Nothing but good music.”
This was the closing message of the Trap trio Keys N Krates as they wrapped up their Midnite Mass tour (with Hermitude and Ganz) at the Showbox Sodo last night. In a genre that can tend to feel a bit aggressive, it’s good to hear producers push a positive message; one that the dance music community strives to embody.
Oh, and they absolutely killed it. Highlighting new material from their Midnite Mass EP in between fan favorites like Are We Faded, Keys N Krates delivered a high-energy show that encouraged everyone to dance every last bit of energy out of their weekend. People went nuts.
As Keys N Krates continues to produce and tour, it’s obvious their work is evolving, rather than plateauing. They embody the traditional sounds and beats that make them unique, but aren’t just creating mixes that feel like extensions of old material.
Hermitude as well continues to impress us as they grow and make it higher in the lineup. Making two Seattle stops in less than four months (last at Q Nightclub on November 6), we’re keeping an eye on them, and you should as well. And Ganz too stepped up to the task of setting high expectations for the night with his opening set.
Our only complaint – as always in this case – is that the show was all ages. There seemed to be a lot of people (*ahem, kids*) futzing, taking selfies, and chatting rather than feeling the music and melting into the crowd. Other than that, for a supposedly sold out show it felt like there was ample room to get down and embrace the trap. All around an excellent way to end a weekend; just rejuvenating, liberating dance.
If you haven’t experienced Midnite Mass, it’s time to pay penance.
