Rekindle Your Inner Child and Imagination at Kamp Festival 2017

Returning for another year of “adult summer camp” is none other than Kamp Festival at the Whatshan Lake Retreat. A mesh of all things fun-in-the-sun combined with a 4-day outdoor dance party…complete with lasers! Kamp returns to the Kootenays June 30th and for 4 days encourages you do ditch your adult responsibilities and be a kid. With a lineup featuring Chali 2na, Jpod, Dirtwire and more, you’re guaranteed to have plenty of opportunities to get your groove one. Going one further, however, and separating Kamp from many other festivals is the event’s extensive list of workshops, games, and activities that will undoubtedly remind you of the summers you spent at camp as a child.

There are many festivals to choose from in the PNW and making up your mind on which one to settle on can be quite difficult. With many of the region’s events seeing sell-out rates higher than ever, some are making the move to try out new festivals in 2017. Change, however, shouldn’t be feared but welcomed, and we can promise from experience that nearly every single one of the festivals hosted in British Columbia are capable of leaving a lasting impression; so much so that you could hit a festival nearly every weekend starting in June all the way into August! Helping diversify itself from other events, Kamp breaks the typical music festival mold by keeping its attendees active and entertained beyond the stage areas.

The festival’s intimate setting allows attendees to let loose and unwind in a picture perfect setting.  With an aim to promote participation, inclusion, imagination and personal growth, Kamp goes well beyond the bounds of your typical festival. It’s a great reminded that sometimes you just need to live a little and let your inner wild thing out. With a lineup of events as long as the music acts, Kamp provides it’s attendees with countless possibilities to learn a new skill, play a new game and meet lots of new people. Activities can range anywhere from Capture-the-Flag and Fishing to Sound Design or Acro-Yoga classes. With so many options you’ll be just as concerned with what activities you want to attend as you are with what sets to catch.

Tickets are currently available at $280CAD ($205USD) and include entry for the entire festival, camping, and all the activities you could ever dream off. As we mentioned previously, many of British Columbia’s larger events have sold out well in advance, making for a perfect opportunity to explore something new. Kamp Festival’s combination of musical acts, art, activities, workshops and more make for the perfect adult summer camp. Complete with a lake to cool off in it’s the ideal place to break free of your 9-to-5 and live free. As we inch closer and closer to June, we look forward to seeing may of you across the PNW at some of our favorite events, so be sure to follow us on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram for all the latest music and news from the PNW!
