BC’s freshest exports are back with a brand new album and DMNW is stoked to have it here for you first!! Illennials is the latest work by Doc Zoo, Danimal House, Phil Lyons, and Mt. Doyle, collectively known as Illvis Freshly. If you’re not familiar with the boys’ unique brand of party-starting personas, then get familiar, because Illvis Freshly is taking over! Freshly packed with so many flavors you’d swear you were sitting at Thanksgiving dinner, Illennials provides the listener with everything they want and expect from an Illvis Freshly album. Showcasing their signature sound which features two MC’s, live guitar, and a good ol’ fashioned selector, Illvis Freshly’s second installment comes in riding the success of their first album, What Chu Know About Illvis?, which debuted in 2015. After a few days of listening to Illennials on repeat (completely self-inflicted), we think it’s safe to say the guys stepped up their game in between projects. While their debut album was no slouch, the time and effort that was put into Illennials is definitely noticeable, as each lyric is just that much more engaging, each cut that much cleaner, each riff that much more…table flipp-ier. Taking the time to make sure everything was exactly how they wanted it to be was something the group had expressed during our interview together back in May. Needless to say, that mission was accomplished. Illennials kicks things into gear with Till It’s Gone, and right from the start you realize standing up was the right decision. Tracks like 94 Style and The Come Up remind of us the golden days when hip hop was on top of the world, while All Live, Backroads, and My Story ft. Bousada bring those west coast vibes that Illvis themselves radiate every chance they get. Of course, an Illvis album wouldn’t be an Illvis album if they didn’t flip the switch and get the party started, which they do throughout the twelve tracks of Illennials. But proving they’re more than just official party liaisons, Illvis Freshly flaunts their talent and range as musicians throughout the entire album, but One More Drink in particular showcases just how original the boys can get. Complete with thought provoking lyrics, catchy hooks, mind bending riffs, and backed by some of the smoothest cuts this side of the future snow wall, Illennials is packed with everything you expect from our favorite foursome, and then some. Music lovers across the PNW should make note, because the latest from Victoria’s Illvis Freshly is one of the hottest albums of the year! Like what you hear?
