Last weekend we were gifted new music from the biggest rising star on Mau5trap. I_O released House of God, a four-song EP on Friday, August 2nd. You will find four diverse tracks: House of God, Possession, Ghost in the Machine, and Come with Me featuring Raito.
Possession: The lead track is a heavy hitting introduction. The lyrics evoke memories of dark warehouses parties across the world, “I can’t stop moving my feet no. I know I can’t be the only one. I said c’mon.” Longtime fans of I_O will love this because it showcases his core sound. In the remaining 3 songs, we see I_O successfully experimenting with new and different ideas.
The most important part about Ghost in the Machine is the melody. Accompanied by well-driven studio lyrics Ghost in the Machine is I_O’s second shot at melodic work. Dig through his discography and listen to the beautiful Audio Dust from 2018.
House of God sticks closer to the fundamentals of techno. It has the consistent techno beat that you hear across Europe and at the Neon Garden stage at EDC.
Come with Me concludes the album. Raito showed I_O how to work with a faster BPM while simultaneously upgrading his sound design techniques. Come with Me is one of those tracks that you learn more and more with subsequent listens.

nothing matters and everything is a joke but THAT BEING SAID, with the insane amount of love i’ve gotten on this project, i wanted to give you something special. possession is the result of several 4am nights in a row in a studio. HoG was a marathon. @raitobeats is a fkng gift to work with. and i wrote and sung ghost in the machine at a crux when everything seemed completely out of my control, so i hope that connects with you (despite not being fkng techno). i owe @jauzofficial my life for allowing me to use his studio without limit (and Arizona Jared for keeping me company). i hate sentimental shit it’s fkng dumb but this ep is sentimental so go fuck yourself nothing matters yolo my manager made me write this i hate you
Jauz and I_O also finally released their highly rumored collaboration nearly three weeks ago. As a team, the two decided on a deep house approach. Truth has been dominating stages across the country with it’s a unique spin on house music.
By chance did you make it out to the Group Therapy Weekender with Above & Beyond? Above & Beyond performed I_O’s remix of their classic Alchemy from 2012’s Group Therapy Album
