Exploring the Digital Abyss: G Jones Goes Further, Farther with ‘Ring The Alarm’ EP

Enter an abyss where the sirens call. Step into a realm where the tempo is up and the bass is down: where left is right and right is left. Scratch that right is the direction in which Cali bass wizard G Jones is going, as evidenced by his massive new release, Ring the Alarm EP. The album, which is free to download via Saturate Records, feature nine original songs including collaborations with fellow bass disciples MinnesotaDoshy, and Mad Zach.

Further into the mix, Engima emerges as a puzzling, complex production that truly lives up to its name. The song traverses through the wizard’s sonic realms- from ethereal, ghostly notes to that signature Jones groove of fluttering hats, floating space-era frequencies, and sizzling, thundering bassweight; the composition is a showcase of G Jones’ ability to compose dynamic, flowing sound-scapes at a higher level than we’ve ever seen from him before.

Each song can be enjoyed and interacted with individually. However, the work as a whole morphs into a different beast entirely when one dives in and traverses it from start to finish. Listeners who sit down and dive into the album thrown headfirst into the darker depths of G Jones’ world. Here, the outerworldly and abysmal mingle and intertwine. The murky darkness is home to shifting, faceless transients that mold to the mood and vibe of the beholder. In such a world, the explorer is able to immerse themselves and create a story of their own.

Drift VIP, the last passage of the story, embodies the overarching vibe and ethereal tones layered through the album, and serves as a final blast-off to help adventurers rise out from the deep and a return into weightless orbit… back to drifting through space and time.
