Tiësto

Making up for his cancelled performance on the second night of FreakNight 2014, 46-year-old Dutchman Tiësto is headlining FreakNight 2015’s Halloween-night festivities. A face and name that many outside of dance music associate with EDM and it’s growth in popularity in recent years, Tiësto is an artist who is a headliner in every sense of the word. He’s performed at festivals around the world and produced tunes with as impressive a ‘who’s who’ list as any artist around.

Consistently ranking among the top in DJ popularity polls, and income-listings making their way throughout the blogosphere, Tiësto isn’t resting on his laurels. He released his latest album, A Town Called Paradise, last year, and has been regularly performing at festivals throughout North America and Europe. Apart from FreakNight 2014, Tiësto last appeared in the Northwest at several festivals, such as Pemberton 2015, Paradiso 2013, and FreakNight 2011.

The polarizing Dutchman has had success producing and DJing several genres throughout his decades-long career, showcasing a longevity and awareness that have put him atop the EDM-industry food chain. Regardless of your opinion on Tiësto, he’s one of the best in the business, and doubting his skill (and missing his set) would be a grave mistake.

tyDi

Bringing us one of the best albums of 2014, Australian tyDi is a fan-favorite who always draws a crowd when he visits the Northwest. The 28-year-old also known as Tyson Illingworth has released four albums in his career, stretching trance’s boundaries every step of the way. His work with vocalists is among the best in dance music and you can get a glimpse of what he has in store by checking out his ‘Global Soundsystem’ podcast. He’s performed throughout the Northwest over the years, including at the Paradiso 2013 mainstage, where he came up clutch and switched set times with Gareth Emery, who’s flight was delayed. He was also slated to perform on the cancelled second-night of FreakNight 2014, and we’re happy to have him back at our fall festival of choice.

Chuckie

An artist whose inclusion on any festival lineup is worth noting, DJ Chuckie is a Dirty Dutch legend making his FreakNight festival return. He played at both FreakNight 2012 and Paradiso 2014, finding time to release his lone studio album between stops in 2013. Born Clyde Sergio Narain, Chuckie last performed in the Northwest at Foundation Nightclub earlier this summer, and has a couple of festival appearances under his belt as well. Chuckie is best enjoyed live, and his skills on the decks aren’t up for debate. His ‘Dirty Dutch Radio’ show is a great place to start for those unfamiliar with one of the most influential artists in dance music today. One of many huge names on the FreakNight 2015 lineup, catching (at least) some of Chuckie’s set of dirty dutch house is a must for all FreakNight attendees.

Nicky Romero

Northwest festivals, and festivals in general don’t skimp on the Dutch, and FreakNight 2015’s first phase of artists continues that trend. Nicky Romero, also known as Nick Rotteveel, makes it a hat-trick of FreakNight appearances, following his performances at the annual fall festival in 2012 and 2013. The 26-year-old is a fan-favorite around the world, and has managed to couple his constant career growth with the founding of his record label, Protocol Recordings. Working with dozens of progressive and electro house artists, Romero’s impact on dance music is as positive as it is large, and we hope it continues to grow.

Romero was one of the biggest artists of 2012, releasing a trio of hits in TolouseLike Home featuring NERVO, and I Could Be The One. He’s since slowed his release-rate, but don’t doubt the man’s efforts. He’s always performing at EDM’s biggest festivals and helping develop dance music’s next generation of artists. We’ve even been treated to a few new tunes in recent months, including Lighthouse and Warriors, and we’re hoping there’s more on the way in the near future.

Will Sparks

If you’re looking for some good ‘ol melbourne bounce at FreakNight 2015, Will Sparks is your guy. The pioneer of the budding sub-genre, the 22-year-old Sparks rocketed into the dance music consciousness in 2012, releasing his first three tunes. As the sound grew in popularity, so did Sparks, who quickly found himself playing at major festivals across the globe. We’ve been lucky to have a few servings of Sparks, with shows at Foundation Nightclub each of the past two years, and a Paradiso 2014 performance as well. Being the face of a popular new sound is never easy, and Sparks has handled the pressure and spotlight as well as anyone. A set unlike any other, Will Sparks performance at FreakNight 2015 will be the bounciest of the festival.
