Claude VonStroke

Dirtybird boss and leader of all things tech house, San Francisco-based Claude VonStroke is one of the most influential artists in all of dance music. The 44-year-old has released three studio albums, and helped launch the careers of countless artists. His latest work, Urban Animal, was released in 2013, the same year in which he made his last FreakNight appearance. Also known as Barclay Crenshaw, Claude VonStroke has more recently performed in the Northwest at Paradiso 2014, Shambhala Music Festival earlier this year, and several Dirtybird BBQs. An artist who’s impact will be felt long after he decides to step away from music, Claude VonStroke is a living-legend, and deserves to be on your FreakNight 2015 viewing schedule.

Pete Tong

An entire stage curated by a dance music legend. Again. The “All Gone Pete Tong” stage at FreakNight 2015 is a treat we’ll be enjoying all night long, giving our favorite fall festival the variety we’ve come to enjoy year-after-year. Last year, Carl Cox & Friends took over the Midway of Mayhem stage at FreakNight 2014, and the RAM Records crew delivered all of the drum & bass at Lucky 2015. If we can trust anyone to pick an entire night of quality music, it’s Pete Tong. The 55-year-old MBE is one of the people who are actually responsible for dance music reaching the heights it has today, and the industry veteran deserves the plaudits he regularly receives.

Tong was scheduled to perform at Foundation Nightclub earlier this year, but had to cancel. His previous Seattle performance had come back in 2013, and we’re happy he was able to make it up to us so quickly, and in such a big way. He was just over the border at FVDED In The Park during Independence Day weekend earlier this summer, but a full-night of Pete Tong selections is a special event that every FreakNight attendee should indulge in. We now know that it will be the first day, Friday, of FreakNight that will be all gone with Mr. Tong, so if that’s more your style than the rest of the festival, grab your single-day ticket for that day.

Amine Edge & Dance

Amine Edge & DANCE are a French duo who’ve embraced the recent tech house revival that’s followed dance music’s massive growth in popularity throughout the last decade. Releasing more than a few originals and remixes via their own CUFF label in 2015, you can also find an endless supply of live-sets from the duo via their Soundcloud page. With roots that go back to their teens, Amine Edge & DANCE are house music mainstays ready to steal the show at FreakNight this fall. The duo were last in the Northwest performing on October 30th at Q Nightclub last year.

Bakermat

Consistently delivering an increasingly unique sound and blend of genres, Dutchman Bakermat’s Northwest return is another very fitting booking for FreakNight. A little different than the rest, in the all of the best ways, Bakermat’s minimalist mix of all things house music put him at the top of our Northwest festival wish-list all year long. Thankfully, he performed at The Crocodile in Seattle, and at Shambhala Music Festival, earlier this year. Coming closer to the heart of the Northwest dance music community at FreakNight is an unexpected treat, one we’ll happily unwrap and enjoy right away. Until then, we’ll be delving deep into his discography, which features four studio albums since 2012.

Hot Since 82

Daley Padley, better known as Hot Since 82, has been impressing fans and artists alike since smashing onto the dance music scene and releasing his debut single in 2011. Within two years the British artist was featured on Pete Tong’s ‘Essential Mix’ show on BBC Radio 1 and released his debut studio album, Little Black Book. A year after that, he created his own record label, ‘Knee Deep In Sound’. How’s he followed up in 2015? Massive touring throughout North America and Europe, hitting major festivals on both sides of the pond. He even found time in his busy summer schedule to record a special three-hour Essential Mix for Pete Tong, live at Space, Ibiza. The rise of Hot Since 82 is everything that’s great about dance music, and we’ll be witnessing his first Northwest festival performance at the Tacoma Dome this fall.
