Deadmau5 Calls New Track ‘Seeya,’ “a bit of a departure”

Deadmau5 gave Zane Lowe an exclusive interview and sneak peak of his new song Seeya. During the interview, the mau5 called Seeya funky, upbeat and “a bit of a departure.” He went on to describe it as a song he’s “had around for a while” but recently remixed with Colleen D’Agostino on vocals.

Seeya is jazz meets funk, and reminiscent of Daft Punk circa early 2000’s. From start to finish, it keeps the funky vibes going. Deadmau5 mixes it up in between with his unique melding of computing noises, vocals and funky vibes.

His song would not be complete without its lucid lyrics. The lyrics allude to you creating your own reality inside your head, where you can be the master of your own domain. His lyrics also express feeling wide awake while being asleep and gaining more joy from this fantasy world.

Overall, Seeya is funk-tastic and brings on the good vibes. Deadmau5’s next big move is to take on Gumball3000 with Myth Busters star and co-driver Tory Belleci. He’s set to play for free at Gumball3000’s launch party in Miami and finale party in Ibiza. You can tune in to Deadmau5 during his 3,000 mile, week long journey from Miami to Ibiza as he previews new music from his upcoming album While(1<2).
