Day 1 Collective: New Production in the Northwest

With electronic music growing in the northwest, production companies are developing and making their way into the region. One of those companies is Day 1 Collective. According to the founders, there are elaborate ideas in the works to bring us some awesome music.

Who is Day 1 Collective?

Founded by Max Heegard and Eric Tucker, the company started as a project to “drive the expansion and enjoyment of dance music.” Day 1 Collective, as described by their Facebook page, is a production group dedicated to “celebrating the arts and creating inspirational, unforgettable moments for our event goers.” The production group has recently grown from their base in Eugene. With this new growth, Day 1 Collective is focusing on bringing self-expressive art to the region. They recently put on two events in California, and are hoping to expand further very soon!

Day 1 Collective prides on using electronic music and events to benefit others. Freedom Dance, their most recent events, took place at Camp Pendleton for military members and their families. The dance party was designed as a free event for Marine personnel and their families to “let go and get their groove on to globally inspired electronic music.” The event was successful, and a second Freedom Dance was put on to include other military branches.

Their first event, Sunshine Sessions, took place in June. It was a free, all ages dance party at Alton Baker Park in Eugene. The event had about 1,500 attendants and raised $1,400 for local charities. The success of Sunshine Session has caused Day 1 Collective to schedule a second Sunshine Session for June 24th, 2017. You can see the after video of the first Sunshine Session here.

Day 1 Collective hopes to bring more elements of dance culture to the northwest. They are in the process of booking some world-class acts and bringing other shows to the region before the end of this year. Hopefully we can rave for a cause soon, and are looking forward to hearing how Day 1 Collective expands over the next few months.
