Dance Music Is For Everyone: Why Your Family and Friends Will Love EDM

[divider]EASE OF ACCESS[/divider]

So you want to hear your favorite artist’s latest performance at a legendary venue, but don’t want to fork out the money to do so? Not a problem with EDM! You can still listen to that amazing set from the latest festival, as well as other sets from your favorite artists. You can discover new artists easily as well. The connection between technology and EDM has created an environment that gives instant access to an artist’s entire discographies with merely an internet connection. Not only that, but bootleg remixes, collabs, mixes, podcasts, live-sets, and more are all at your fingertips. Whether you prefer Soundcloud, iTunes, Beatport, torrenting, or any other form of downloading music via the interwebs, EDM is available.

The availability of EDM and ease in which it can be enjoyed are all unique moments, from having a one-person Shambhala Festival in the car ride to work in the morning, to closing your eyes and unwinding from a stressful day with a little Group Therapy. Yes, you can listen to Metallica on the way to work or relax with some Simon & Garfunkel, but the difference is what you’re listening to and the way you’re experiencing it. Rather than jamming to the same four tracks you’ve heard a million times from your favorite band, you can shuffle through various sets and mixes from artists that can both fit your musical interests, yet are something new and different. Not many other types of music offer as much diversity and availability as EDM.

Another way access to EDM is different than other genres is the way artists and fans interact via social media. DJs and producers are some of the most active social media users and the connection between technology, the internet, social media, and EDM is apparent. This makes keeping up with and following where your favorite artists are touring and when their next tune will be coming out a breeze. It also humanizes many of the artists, who often control the accounts themselves and interact with their fans directly.
