Cableguys has introduced a brand-new plugin called HalfTime, the only plugin 100% dedicated to half-speed effects that are frequently used throughout electronic and modern music compositions. This tool already boasts use by the likes of David Guetta, members of 808 Mafia, Armin van Buuren, BT, The Chemical Brothers, and many, many more. Cableguys makes some awesome stuff, we reviewed their ShaperBox bundle and loved it!
It’s much easier to understand what HalfTime does by listening to some examples on the Cableguys SoundCloud:
With one click you can easily change the pitch and speed of incoming audio, the advanced parameters of which can be as easily modified and automated in your DAW of choice. HalfTime transmutes audio into new forms: “Lead synths mutate into heavyweight EDM bass monsters. Plinky piano lines become haunting trap melodies. Percussion thickens, expanding to reveal new rhythmic possibilities.” – Cableguys
They might sound like they’re bragging, but it’s truly that easy- add the plugin on any track for an instant speed effect. The friendly Power button makes it simple to automate HalfTime into your tracks with your mouse, create a quick transition, or fade up to 16 bars. The ability to fade really shines as a useful and unique feature of HalfTime, a perfect solution to uninteresting transitions.
There are three speed modes and an adjustable loop length feature which allows multi-bar time effects, syncopation and groove reconstruction. Finally the most impressive feature of this time-mangling tool- you can affect only the lows, mids or highs with the band split functionality. This is excellent for your master fader if you make trap beats, for example, allowing the bass to keep booming beneath tripped-out slowed mids and highs.
