April: Godfather of House Frankie Knuckles Acknowledged by President Obama

This year, we lost a major music contender & pioneer. A house music legend to most, the mighty Frankie Knuckles passed away on March 31st. Also known as “The Godfather of House”, Knuckles is the reason we call house music “house” today. Fans attending Frankie’s club Knuckles’ Warehouse took to just calling it “House”. Frankie was recognized by none other than President Obama himself, for his hand in bringing people together peacefully during the rough battle against raves and dance parties in Chicago. Have you ever been to Chicago on the 25th of August? Four years after achieving a resolution, the city declared August 25th “Frankie Knuckles Day”, and it holds strong today.
