When discussing Portland’s dance music scene with Benny, it became readily apparent how much he cares and is deeply involved. Playing multiple times a week and setting up shows can be a taxing task with some crazy hours. Having a partner to be able to put up with that type of career while raising a family must make Benny feel lucky. Finding your footing in the ins and outs of Portland’s dance music scene will likely make you feel as an outsider at times. As in many cities, you just push your own work with no real support group helping you along the way. Meanwhile in Portland if you’ve been in the scene a couple years you always recognize faces where you go and play at one another’s shows all the time. Portland acts as a community ladder, pulling one another up to the next step.
I’m always open to booking new acts and having fresh new faces. I’ll get emails from people moving from LA and i’ll just tell them send me a mix. But if you have the right vibe and go about the right way i’ll book you.
We built something here that if you come and are a part of, Fak Wednesday’s will embrace you. It’s a cycle, it’s a big but small circle. When i book someone i want them to come and have the time of your life. Numerous times i’ll hear a local have a better set than the headliner. Guys like Night City, HAL-V & Spacecase, Tourmaline, Danny Merkury, PartyGirl, DeafMind, Token, Lil Clark, Drexler, Gang$ign$, Wolfkin, Optikos and more.

Benny has Portland reaching for newer and higher limits. Sharing the Whiskey Bar with huge headliners coming through weekly has made Portland a destined tour stop. With Benny and Fak Wednesday, the dance music scene in Portland has never looked brighter. With the spotlight on Benny and Fak Wednesday’s, we’re excited for the upcoming years!
