Nestled in the sleepy town of Cumberland, BC, in the northern region of Vancouver Island, lies the biggest little festival on the rise, Atmosphere Gathering. Going into it’s fourth year, the small festival is a collaboration between Cumberland Village Works and Mt Eliah Presents, running August 18th – 20th, 2017. This unique, family oriented festival is a breath of fresh air in our scene these days, with interactive activities during the day, right down to the silent disco at night. This festival is built and designed to bring out the kid in anyone, and the lineup is the best part. But, Atmosphere is not just a music festival. There are tons of activities throughout the daytime festival portion! The festival itself is composed of two main stages. One is in a legitimate circus big top tent brought over from the UK by Project Intent, which is also ran by Mt Eliah himself, Benjamin Howells. During the day, treat yourself to a refreshing beverage at the organic, local, non-alcoholic Elixir Temple, or take in a workshop. Maybe check out the live painting by local artists or the interactive art installations and other activities. This is all surrounded by the most amazing music, running from the morning until the sun goes down. From there, the music shifts into a silent disco. Everyone receives headphones, so you can dance all night without disturbing the quiet of this little mountain town, which opens itself up to the ruckus every year. This year is special, and we here at Dance Music Northwest are proud to unveil the 2017 lineup for this year’s main event. Having already announced Canadian super stars Half Moon Run as the top billed headliner, we also get to play host to French bass music prodigy CloZee, Vancouver electrofusion band Dirty Radio, Sleeveless Records founder Stylust Beats and violin virtuoso Kytami, among many others. 2017 Lineup Half Moon Run CloZee DiRTY RADiO Kytami Oka Entangados Frivolous (live) Sabota Moontricks Digging Roots Slynk Max Ulis Neon Steve Mt.Eliah Frase Astrocolor Dj Shub DJ Generic The Leg Up Program Outsider Mr Mac Himself Dubtecha Lady AK Erica Dee This Way North Sophia Danai Applecat Back Eddie and the Procrastinators AND MANY MORE! Give your wallet a break and get yourself sorted because we’re watching Atmosphere closely, and this is one that will be blowing up faster than we can handle! We think Ben puts it best, so we’re going to wrap things up with a quote from the man himself. “This year is a special year because as a festival Atmosphere Gathering has worked out its kinks, the machine is operating at an output never seen before. All our foundational systems are in place and working well. This has left the upper management and creative teams with the time to think up all sorts of amazing ideas that engage, inspire, and invoke the highest of experiences for our community and the larger festival community throughout Vancouver Island and beyond. This event is so much more then just a line up of artists If you haven’t attended and are unsure just ask someone who has! This may just be your year!” -Benjamin Howells aka Mt.Eliah Who’s excited for Atmosphere?! What artists are you looking forward to seeing most? Let us know in those comments!
