5 Things We LOVED About Tall Tree Music Festival 2017!

Oh boy, now that was a weekend! For anyone who joined us on Brown’s Mountain in B.C., you know the level of fun we had. Despite the heat, we managed to have the best weekend possible. Between late night dance parties, mid-day dips in the lake, and a great deal of libations, the DMNW crew had a blast on the mountain! There will be a full editorial from our correspondent Jamie Gib coming soon, but until then we wanted to share our 5 favourite moments of the weekend! So sit back and let the memories wash over you, and relive that sweet Tall Tree experience with us.

1. THAT FRICKEN VIEW!

How can you even go wrong with that view?! Nestled way above the picturesque town of Port Renfrew, BC, Tall Tree Music Festival is literally on top of a mountain, overlooking some of the most scenic views you can get on the West Coast. Waking up to this every morning was not only a treat, it was a privilege.

2. Mat the Alien’s 45s Set at the Valley Stage!

Mat is and still remains one of the most versatile DJs we’ve ever come across. The man is truly out of this world when it comes to track selection, so when we heard he would be rinsing out a set of all 45s vinyl for the Valley Stage, we couldn’t miss it, and thank goodness we didn’t! If the tracks themselves didn’t impress you, the sheer volume in which he was cranking them out sure did. One of the best sets of the weekend, for sure!

3. The Zoolander Fashion Show!

One of the things we love about Tall Tree is the unique, off the cuff activities that come out. On Saturday afternoon, we found out just how spunky we can get! The Zoolander fashion show encouraged all the patrons to dress as weird as they like for a showcase in front of their peers, and the results . . . well just wait for the full album. AMAZING!

4. The Illvis Freshly Champagne and Pool Floaty Party!

Illvis Freshly? Killer. Pool floaties? Fun as hell. Champagne? Well, that’s a no brainer. Put it altogether with one of the best sets we’ve seen the boys play probably ever, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a good time! This was the highlight of Sunday for sure. All our friends together, with champagne and inflatable friends in abundance. Sunday Funday the Tall Tree way!

5. Lazy Syrup Orchestra Sunday SUPER JAM!

This massive jam session seriously one of the best ways to finish out our Sunday. Lazy Syrup Orchestra is one part Funk Hunter (Dunks), and one part Klassik, coming together to create a crazy funky experience that’s not soon forgotten. Joining him on stage was K+Lab on the keytar (sans pants, even!), Def3, MC Everyman, and Thomas Workshop for the star studded experience that we’ll never forget! If you missed them at Tall Tree, make sure to catch them out at this year’s Shambhala Music Festival kicking off The Grove stage on Saturday from 4 – 5:30!

We hope that was a fun flashback, and a full recap is on the way as soon as we have everything in order! Big thanks to Tall Tree Music Festival for bringing us up to such an amazing place. Is it time to go back yet?!
